Here is a short review of some important news in European Union.

The long-term economic perspectives for emerging economies in Europe are rather optimistic, given the fact that these countries reformed their institutions and have diversified and vigorous economies.
The global economic crisis is a signal calling for the consolidation of European cooperation in areas such as the financial stability and the international financial institutions.
For Romania an important news is that Stere Farmache was replaced from his position as general manager of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) by Anca Dumitru, after the National Securities Commission approved her nomination on Thursday. Farmache announced a month ago his intention to resign, due to an offer from a private company. Anca Dumitru comes from the general manager office of the Electronic Stock Exchange, RASDAQ. After the merger between BVB and RASDAQ, she was manager in BVB. Since 2002, she is also general manager of the Brokers’ Association.
You might also know that the Russian billionaire Aleksandr Lebedev, a former KGB agent, is about to take over the Evening Standard daily newspaper, thus becoming the first Russian oligarch to hold a large British publication, as announced by The Guardian. It seems like Lebedev will take over the control stock after an entire year of secret negotiations with Lord Rothermere, the owner of Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT).
